Touch Down

Woke up at an ungodly hour this morning. Had hoped to catch the sunrise over the skyline of New York City but all I had was a soft grey mist rising gently over the twinkly lights. The view from the newly renovated guest room (ben is a genius it looked so elegant in there) is hands down the best I've ever seen. Better then the top of the Rock and the Empire State building. Mostly because it includes them. Along with the Statue of Liberty, the Chrysler building and every iconic landmark this city has.

Took a very early train out to Long Island to look after the twinkies today. You could really see the devastation from the storm alongside the tracks. Trees everywhere, roofs still covered. Quite intense.

I was greeted at the station by little Dil in her Pjs. Arms wide open. The kid is usually very reserved. Much like her Mom, something very foreign to the rest of our family. We are an emotional, emotive bunch to say the least.. The girls were adorable. Filled me in on all their news. An hour sat looking at all of Jade's tiny baskets and Dylan's gem stone collection. They wanted to hear details about their big girl cousin and loads of questions about her beau. We talked about them visiting London and a trip to Paris. Where they want to eat crepes and loads of tiny food that's way too expensive. We had a brief photoshoot. It was like trying to snap a box of jumping frogs.

It was a very precious to see them.

It's good to be home.
