The heart of the matter.

The heart of Akureyri is situated in the heath Vaðlaheiði opposite the town.The heart is the size of a football field, has 375 bulbs and pulsates. It was lit for the first time in 2008 but has been buried, this winter, 2 meters under the snow until a few days ago when workers from Rafeyri (an electrical contractor) dredged it from the snow.
It was lit again today on Iceland's Independece day.
