I remember

On this date in 1989, I was a 22 year old post-graduate research student, getting ready to go to an end of term/Christmas party. My world was changed forever when I heard that a gunman had killed 14 women engineering students at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal - killed them because they were women. None of us thought this massacre could happen in Canada. We were wrong.

We all must continue to fight violence against women.

On a brighter note, I noticed a request on our intranet at work for someone to talk to a young person who is thinking of becoming an engineer. Two people with engineering degrees volunteered to help and both were women. Some progress has been made in the last 29 years.
