Science day

Mr B arrived home v late last night, so it was a late night. Therefore a late start this morning.

TallGirl has to do a science experiment to present for an exam in June, today was the first public-facing part of it where a bunch of neighbours came in to test ‘naturally flavoured’ yoghurts (actually just coloured). What was interesting to me was that the neighbours we know well tried really hard to find flavours “oh it’s very subtle, but then natural flavours are...” while the friends visiting a neighbour who came to help out but didn’t know us, were much more likely to be sceptical.

TallGirl, of course, felt terrible about tricking people but, with her white lab coat and serious demeanour, did a great job. Talking to people is not her favourite thing, so it was a tiring day for her.

Meanwhile, Mr B took CarbBoy to another basketball victory, and I made mince pies and flapjacks and was TallGirl’s lab assistant and washer-up. And having folk in the house necessitated a good start on the big Christmas house cleaning effort.

Kangaroo and venison for dinner and discussion about why we eat some animals (CarbBoy wouldn’t eat kangaroo). Earlier a very good discussion with TallGirl about some genetic work she did recently.
