"Right Caley, wade/swim out to that wee island, get your left shoulder towards the camera, and look beyond it, do a power stance, front legs not too close together remember"
That is a much more difficult command than "Sit!" but then I always tell folk - who are less than impressed by his daft Labrador ways- that Caley is highly trainable. You note I didn't say trained.

On leaving the car I met a cheery gentleman returning from Corrour direction (not Ardverikie) on his bike. He had left his home in Peterhead at 3 this morning in order to bag a further two of the Ardverikie Munros. He had recently climbed the first one. He explained he had cycled for hours on the track and encountered much greater gradients than fitted his recent recollection. As light came in nothing looked right and upon stopping to check, his GPS device confirmed he had taken the Corrour track by accident in the morning darkness. (I have actually seen others make the same mistake in broad daylight though are more likely to realise the error earlier). His day wasted now, he was still cheery and philosophical about it and took comfort that he had a walk in Glencoe to look forward to on Sunday.
