A friend’s birthday passed by relatively unnoticed, so when she told me she’d been offered free tickets for this, it seemed the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

It seemed to be too sophisticated an event to just rock up to the stalls and expect a drink, so we asked questions about their wine and spirits to earn our tasters. The sophistication of our questions probably followed a bell curve.
