Seal

This seal was on the slip at Kirkwall harbour today, and seemed unfazed by passing traffic, men working on boats etc. It's a common seal, though scientists are now calling using 'harbour seal' instead. It's probably a good idea really- attach 'common' to any kind of animal and people think it can treated as we like. This species is actually doing quite badly at the moment and it isn't clear why.
