Time out

Most of the day was spent preparing for Christmas (well sort of). After breakfast we drove out to Helpston Garden Centre, a local independent business, to buy our Christmas tree. We were pleased to find plenty of choice of good quality trees and soon found the perfect specimen. There were no crowds, everyone was helpful and the whole experience was lovely. And we made our trip even more useful by stopping in at the farm shop where we bought rabbit and venison to go in the freezer.

After a reviving coffee at home we walked into town along the river and spent a couple of hours at the Green Backyard Christmas Fair. There was lots to look at, all made locally , and we ended up with some Palestinian za'atar, dates and soap, two flavours of mead, some French caneles and a couple of photography books by our local street photographer, Chris Porz. We also bumped into quite a few people we knew, one of whom I hadn't seen for over twenty-five years! She has now retired from JNCC and is creating stunning stone sculptures.

I had been hoping to take some photographs, but in the end I was too busy enjoying the company, and then the light faded. I did snatch a quick picture of this couple, having a quiet five minutes with their beer in 'not a plastic cup' (100% biodegradable and compostable).
