Backyard Logging

There is a small but growing "industry" around here. This is one that I passed while out driving in the countryside. The people buy a big log splitter and other equipment. Set it up and have logs delivered. They are cutting their own firewood as well as that to sell.
Our county is part of the Catskill Forest system. A practical reason for making money from local lumber is that there are new laws against importing wood from other states or in some cases, counties.
They are trying to control infestations of damaging insects that are killing the forest.
