Festive Winchester

First visit to the Christmas Market in Winchester. Early train and met with Mr B’s brother and sister-in-law, and P a family friend. Coffee Lab too busy, so told them we were in the Dispensary. They misread my text and waited for us in the Refectory in the Cathedral grounds. No problem as both near to each other.

Then wandered round the market. Good fun and lots of visitors. Didn’t buy anything but good fun and pleased we went.

Winchester looks good at any time of the year, but especially with the elegant Xmas street and shop decorations. You can see why it receives accolades such as best city to live in England.

Lunch in Côte, reliable and good value as always. Then train back home.

“Winchester - ancient capital of England. In 1519 Winchester was chosen as the capital of the kingdom of Wessex; and in 827, Egbert the first king of all England was crowned here. It then remained the capital and the most important city in England until the eleventh century and the arrival of William the Conqueror”
