Highs and lows

Today had a high and a low. The high was speaking at the graduation of 10 young men with learning disabilities, who completed a programme which offered permanent jobs on completion. Their joy was so evident. They earned the jobs - this was not an act of compassion.

The low was the passing of a close colleague at 67. Diagnosed with grade 4 cancer 5 years ago, W had an extra 4 years added on due to a “super drug” he was offered. In the end, his passing was peaceful.

Some days are like that- containing both highs and lows. I experienced both today in that rhythm of life. In a way, I celebrated passing through in two ways today - both of which leave me with fond memories of people who earned what they achieved. Good thoughts of you W.
