On Some Days

Flower Friday . . . Lupins

We had a wonderful day in the lupins.  There was no shortage of them.  They are spreading along the road sides and filling some paddocks.  Their jewel like colours and perfume where a delight.  This blip is at Lake Tekapo.  We drove down the side roads and discovered Lake Alexandrina  with it's collection of cottages and row boats.  They don't allow motors so everyone has to row out to fish.  A man had three good trout he caught yesterday.  We went as far as the Cass River and the entrance to Godley Peaks Station.  When we stopped for a cuppa overlooking Lake Tekapo a tourist asked me to take a photo of him and his wife with the lake in the background.  He had a big Sony camera.   Very nice to hold.  Finally we took the metal road through the defence force land to come out at Lake Pukaki.  The army have left their land in tussock.  The cloud was half way down the mountains but on a clear day that would be a stunning drive.  We are back in Christchurch tonight.
