Giant Buddha

The Big Buddha, is a large bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue is sited near Po Lin Monastery and symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and faith.

The 3 people shown in the foreground are standing on a sacred spot marked with a circle before making the ascent. They are praying to Buddha. It took 268 very hard and tiring steps to get right to the top. I also prayed when I got up there!
