Hair Ice ... Exidiopsis Effusa

I've only seen this phenomena once before up in the woods beside New Lanark today I spotted it in the Queen Elizabeth Forest up near Lochan Spling.

At first I thought it was just a piece of white paper but I clambered a bit and walked through mounds of decaying leaves to reach this beauty. I suppose it's just being in the right place at the right time.

According to Google it's a highly unusual type of frost that forms on dead wood.

The Lochan itself was frozen .... the sun's rays just never rose above the tree line.  The effect was almost completely mono.
