Desert Squirrel

Rebutia cactus

I took this shot fairly early this morning, hand-held at f11 meaning to go back later when the light was better in the conservatory (it gets the morning sun, but areas become shady around lunchtime) with my tripod and a smaller aperture. By then, though, the flower was closing up again. Fickle plants, but then I should have noticed that they closed up in the afternoon when I had a mass of flowers a couple of weeks ago, and planned accordingly. This photo-a-day project is definitely getting me observing and thinking more.
