Bill Ryder-Jones

After all the support he’s given us at work, it was great to be there to support Bill Ryder-Jones tonight when he played a triumphant and touching ‘homecoming’ gig at Grand Central Hall. He’s currently touring his new LP, ‘Yawn’, which has been critically very well received by the monthly music press (Mojo, Uncut and Q) and by 6Music, amongst others! He and his excellent band played a selection of songs from that, along with favourites from his impressive back-catalogue.

There Are Worse Things I Can Do
And Then There’s You
There’s Something On Your Mind
There’s a World Between Us
Lemon Trees 3
By Morning I
Daniel
Catherine and Huskisson
Wild Roses
Seabirds
Put It Down Before You Break It
Tell Me You Don’t Love Me Watching
John
Time Will Be the Only Saviour
Two To Birkenhead
Happy Song
Satellites

Lovely stuff.

A word of praise for the two support acts, too. I loved the witty folk-pop-country-with-brass-section stylings of Gintis and the gothy melodrama of Liela Moss (of The Duke Spirit) and her talented band.

But nothing could surpass Bill! (I’ve posted a few Extras as well).

Here’s the great video for a song from ‘Yawn’ that didn’t get an outing tonight, ‘Mither’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=pNUZS8i4MCk

For those not familiar with the word... ‘mither’ (pronounced ‘my-ther’) is a term largely used in the north of England, meaning ‘to bother, pester or irritate’.
