The last assembly

Today was Maddie's schools final assembly. The principal, a man who has inspired the whole community and who the whole school look up to spoke, it was hard to hold back the tears as he spoke of the school and what it has meant to him. I just love how he relates things to the children in a grown up way but also a way that they can understand. Today he spoke about the word ordinary, and he asked all the students prep to grade 4 to read out loud the word that was flashed up on a big screen, he then gave the definition of it, stating this is just an ordinary school, then a new word flashed up.EXTRA ordianary and once again the children read it out loud, and he then said the difference between the two is that the thing that makes this ordinary school Extra ordinary is all of YOU. I looked around the room and the children were all beaming, it is so hard to watch what is going to be no longer.
How many school principals quote things out of children's story books. Winnie the pooh his favourite

"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you."

There was silence as he read out this quote, he struggled through his tears, I must admit I blinked away a few. The children will always remember him, and will take the morals, and love for their school with them...to a new beginning.

The children all preformed songs with their class, the preps were just soo darn cute, and enthusiastic. Such pride shone in their eyes.

Lara is here with daddy, she loves listening to stories, and then after you have finished, she pipes up and says, I'll you it to you now. It is amazing how much she can retell and remember of the story... she has quite a few books now that she knows the story off by heart and will often curl up on someones knee and read them a story.
