Twenty years after their 'album of the year' Deserter's Songs, Mercury Rev are taking it on tour again. Without the big orchestra and in the intimate space of the Royal Exchange Theatre, it was a touching experience both for old fans and for those newer to the band, who started quiet and gentle but blasted out some serious noise at the end. A night to remember!
