Cartmel Fell

It was a grey day for the Tuesday Run high up on Cartmel Fell with heavy rain forecast. I played safe and stuck to the graveyard and the old church of St Anthony, full of wonderful old features, (see collage in extras). It survived ransacking by Cromwell's men because it's  so remote and difficult to find. The outside looks pretty ugly because the old Cumbrian stone was covered in concrete to make it waterproof, possibly in the 1920s when the same thing was done to church in our village. The cheapest way to make it waterproof.
This was followed by a bring a dish and share lunch in the church hall. Up here they call it a "Jacobs Join" .  A phrase peculiar to the NW I think.
