Best thing since sliced bread

F.M.i.L. Betty found this card while she has been sorting her stuff out, which she has been doing for the past 6 years by the way!
Inside is a message from our Son, Daniel, saying words to the effect "Thanks for the book Granny, it looks like a good read".
She doesn't remember how long ago she received it from him and he can't remember it at all so it remains a mystery. We suspect it was when he returned to the UK after passing Common Entrance to Grammar School and we stayed in Riyadh to put in my notice and tidy up before heading home, that would make him 11 years old as it was the end of 1989.

I can tell you what the best thing since sliced is though, it's Marlane. Today is the day we met, 44 years ago :-)
