St Woolos King & Confessor

Newport City Cathedral situate at St Woolos, Newport (South Wales, UK) has been a place of worship since the 5th century and named after the saint who established it as a place of worship.

It was rebuilt in stone in 9th Century (Saxon) and about 1080 The Normans built the archway leading to a new nave.

The blipfoto is taken in the oldest part of the church, built up in height internally over bones removed from the surrounding cemetry, and shows the Norman arch.
