The Clothesline Project

The University of Victoria's Anti.Violence.Project put on their (semi-?) annual community project on the last day of classes for the fall semester.

The Clothesline Project and other concurrent events (drum circle, anti-violence educational session etc.) "provide a medium for survivors and allies to express their thoughts and their experiences of violence, particularly sexualized violence."

Apparently classes and exams are always cancelled for this event between 11:30am and 12:30pm on the last day of semester, in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

After four years of going to school here, this is the first time I have heard about the event! Either I have never happened to have lectures scheduled during this time or the Faculty of Science thinks it is above such social movements and continues to hold classes. I'd say the latter is more likely.
