Boxing Day

December the 26th here in the UK is St Stephen's Day, or colloquially called Boxing Day.  It was traditionally the day that employers would give their servants a 'Christmas Box', a gift of money or food.  Also a day off from work to go home to spend the day with their families. When I was growing up it was still expected that households would give a small gift of money to those who provided a service, such as the postman or the milkman and especially the paper boy who delivered your newspaper every morning through all kinds of weather.    Now it is a big day in the sporting calendar and the start of the winter sales in the shops.
This little snowman has braved the snowstorm to give you a cheery Boxing Day wave.
