Mucilago Crustacea

It's been a lovely mild Boxing day and F and I went for a walk on Llanymynech Rocks. We saw a peregrine falcon flying and I took a few photos. Unfortunately they're good shots of it's back and tail as it flew away.

The paths were muddy and slippery and are narrow in places. Luckily we kept our footing but one obese man (well over 20 stone we thought) held up the proceedings as several of his friends got him to his feet after slipping. He wasn't hurt and one of the ladies said to us "It's his own fault - he won't buy himself any boots". Hopefully he'll get some in the sales as it would have taken the air ambulance to have got him off the rocks if it had been serious.

As we walked along I spotted this organism on some grass and branches of a bush. I took photos but F said "That's not a fungus, it's dog sick" but I could see that it was growing on the grass. On returning home I looked it up in a book and it's Mucilago Crustacea which is not a fungus but a slime mould also known as Dog Sick Slime Mould due to it's similarity so he made a good guess!

The extra photo is of the tin sculptures of limestone workers as The Rocks are an old limestone quarry.
