Lindisfarne

We had planned to go straight to Whitby when we left Frances this morning but opportunities for a cup of coffee where a bit sparse on our way south. We finally stopped at a garage in Coldstream to get a cup of takeaway coffee and sitting in the van we realised that a) we were quite close to Holy Island and b) the tides were right for a visit. We have been to Whitby before but haven't been to Lindisfarne.

We parked up and walked towards the castle taking a quick right for the boat sheds or shed boats. Unfortunately, a couple of people arrived at the same time and one stood right where I didn't want him. I decided I might be able clone him out if he stood in the right position but before that happened several more wandered up. They bugge moved off eventually and their departure coincided with a little bit of sunshine. I took a few more shots around there and then we walked back and visited the priory. We thought we might get some lunch in a pub but only one was open and it was quite busy so we moved on and eventually found lunch in a services on the A1.

We're now staying in a little place called Levisham, which is near Pickering on the North York Moors.
