Helena Handbasket

On this manicured lawn in front of the Community Hub, I can only assume that the good people of Medway Towns are drawing attention to the plight of the unhoused at this cold and dark time of year when those of us who are lucky enough to do so are overfed and cosy and not out on the streets tossing pennies to those asking.

The encampment of the truly unhoused is in a brambly clearing close to the footpath which runs through the woods, where their invisibility makes tax-payers feel more comfortable about the whole situation and where there will be far fewer witnesses should they be attacked.

Here dogs must be kept on a leash and there are CCTV cameras, it is close to the bus station. It's quite different up in the woods.

Yet these good people seem to be rather displeased by the attention they have drawn from my camera. Are they having too much fun do you think?
