Historic

Back into history today, journeying back to the parental homestead. Earlier, a rather earlier start than was comfortable after a very late night. The Jewish Chinese meal was, turns out, an allusion to a sitcom about Jewish people eating Chinese food at Christmas. Not sure that really helps explain anything since Aunty Betty is neither Jewish nor Chinese, and it was not Christmas.

Anyway it was delicious and we all massively overindulged.

Some pyjama searching early on, so that CarbBoy (who always forgets something when he does his own packing) doesn’t have to sleep ‘legless’, as he put it. Then off to Mrs B Senior’s for a quick farewell that turned out to be the long goodbye.

Down the road to Northumberland, inspection of the new car park, and in for Christmas number two, with roast lamb. And, of course, the inevitable 5-minutes-before-dinner “could you two make some of your lovely gravy?” Mr B turned tail and fled, sensible man.

This postcard somehow belongs to my parents, and is from Enid Blyton. Edit: just spotted that I’ve chopped the signature off! Oops!
