In the shadow . . .

. .   of a bigger and newer bulb!   Imagine my delight, in opening my presents this Christmas to find another red wax-coated giant amaryllis.   This one had also started to sprout, but also has a cracked wax coating and a bunged up stem, with some root points appearing to fight thru the wax coating.   A dissection just might be necessary after it blooms.  My littler second season bulb is in shadow.   Its leaves have deepened green, but do not appear to be progressing any further  . . .
