The Road Hole

One of the most challenging drives in golf. I am standing on the 17th tee of The Old Course. The best line is over the corner of the old railway sheds, attached to the hotel. Somewhere between the corner and the hotel crest is good. Problems if you are too far right, you're in the hotel (then 3 off the tee !) and if you play safe and aim left bushes, heather and a large bunker waits. This is the second time I've played the hole and this time I hit the perfect drive. Ended up in the centre of the fairway a long way round the corner. Phew ! It's a great golf hole and the trouble doesn't finish at the tee. Advised to keep out of the 'Road hole bunker' just left of the green - but that's another story for another year.
