Contrasts were the order of the day
On a visit to my family and my old home town, I couldn't help but compare the deserted town centre to the bustling hive of activity I remember in my younger days.
We've heard a great deal recently about the decline of town centres but I was shocked to see how little commercial activity there appeared to be. Indeed, how few people were in evidence.
These pedestrians, crossing the road in the contrasting light of early afternoon, were the only people I could see in this once busy street.
