Winter Tree, Arne

Today it felt very quiet without the boys so we packed up a flask and a picnic and went to Arne .
It was so still and very mild . We managed to see a little troop of long tailed tits hopping around in the tree tops .I like their old fashioned name - bum barrel. We were also lucky to see a greater spotted woodpecker at the very top of a tree calling clearly . By the water there were the usual water birds and ducks I. A seagull dragged a fish to the shore and devoured it whist an egret did a little dance as it feasted on the shore.
