Another sweet smell

Silage.  The grass was mown in late spring and simply placed in the silage pit and rolled over with a tractor to press it down and then silage sheeting and old tyres stretched over the top.  No additives.  It really does smell sweet and almost molassy.  Very appetising and nutritious for the cows in winter when they are in the yards.
