Desert Palm Tree

Very few palm trees can survive in the hot, dry desert. An additional stress is the low temperatures in winter. For example, we had freezing temperatures of 30 and 32 degrees F in the last two nights. This specimen is probably the Yarey Palm, Copernicia alba or C, prunifera. These palm trees are significantly different from the typical Tropical palm trees seen in Florida.
