Fungi on Treestump

Twin 1 and twin 2 have gone to Sweden, so its a quiet household. So a bit of post Christmas cleanup in the morning.

In the afternoon, my partner and I walk to Mortonhall Garden centre. This takes us through some woodland, and it seems very rural, even though it is still in Edinburgh. One tree stump is covered in fungi in weird colours (blip).

Closer to Mortonhall itself, we walk through the old Arboretum, where there are some deciduous conifers that have shed their leaves, which amongst the coniferous trees look slightly out of place (my last Extra for 2018). From the Arboretum, we walk across a field, where a couple of Highland Cattle are grazing,  and there are some nice views of Morton Hall itself.

We wander around the garden centre and then have afternoon coffee and cake. It is pretty dark when we leave, so we get the bus home.
