Slime mould v. fungus

I think this nicely illustrates the ability of slime moulds to move - the yellow slime mould (physarum species?) appears to be moving up the end of a cut timber log and over the stereum fungus. I suspect that  its feeding on microorganisms in the dead wood and the fungus is just in the way.
