Neptune's necklace

After watching some people swim among a pod of dolphins in the stunning Bay of Islands we stopped for a picnic on one of the islands where we saw this beautiful seaweed. It is found only in New Zealand and a few areas around Australia on seashore rocks and consists of chains of hollow ovoids which appear to be threaded on to a stalk like a necklace.
