My blip-years

Mahjongg

Traditional new years celebrations in the Netherlands include fireworks, oliebollen (fried dough balls with raisins, yikes) and watching lousy tv shows.
Our activity for New Year’s Eve includes a stay over of great friends, some champagne, a lovely cheese platter and three hours of the wonderful game of mahjongg, which most people only know from silly computer games that require you to search pairs...
There’s much more to mahjongg than that. It is an ancient Chinese game with lots of rules and intricacies that causes divorces and bankruptcies in Asia due to heavy gambling on it.
I suck at it, but still enjoy playing, especially as we don’t put money on the outcome!
