Ice mystery

A chilly morning, though when I went outside after lunch I was still surprised to find the bird's water dish frozen solid. Not only frozen solid, but with this strange piece sticking up like the gnomen of a sundial!

I can't imagine how it came about, but at least it made for a Blip with a difference!
