Fowlmere Nature Reserve

Took the children to Fowlmere nature reserve today.
I truly enjoy visiting this place. I often come here on my own, when I just need to get away from the busy hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The water is awash with reed beds now, but it was formally used to grow water cress in the 1890's. It was then transported by horse and cart to Shepreth rail station where it was sold in Covent Garden. As you can see, the water remains crystal clear.
