Edible or Not?

The leaf is from an oak-leaf hydrangea, but those strange fruits are from the dogwood, Cornus capitata. The largest ones are about the size of a golf ball, red to peach in color, and very prolific. If they were edible, we'd be in business by the bucketful. Ah, but are they? Depends what you read. Could be a delicacy, could be nasty. I wish I knew.
