West doorway, Strata Florida Abbey

This moulding is on the west doorway of Strata Florida Abbey in west Wales. As far as I know (and I studied this for my masters dissertation) this is the only example of a Celtic motif in the stonemasonry of Cistercian monasteries in mainland Britain.

I've been coming to Strata Florida since the 1980s. CADW have smartened it up lot since then but it's still a very special place.
