What is it?

Took an extended walk with Mr B and the pups today, up a track we've not trodden for a good few months. Saw this caught in a dead Bush. What on earth is it? Three storeys high whatever it is.
We'd planned to try finding an alternative route back to the village, but the fallen tree put an end to that idea. They could get over it but I couldn't. We'll I am only a woman
