Spiky Ball Plant

I had great fun today and got half a dozen good shots that made it tough to pick one to post. Another mild sunny day with blue skies, it was pleasant to be out shooting and very rare in January in my experience.

In the end I went with the last shot of the day, a chance sighting, I've no idea what plant these spiky balls are from. They have a lattice work surface and seem to be strung together which makes me think it's some kind of vine.
