York day

We intended to specifically visit a couple of interesting places in York today only to find them (and another) closed for conservation cleaning. For once I hadn't checked on-line but just used the paper leaflets available; it demonstrates how significant the overall expectation is that information is disseminated electronically - and how annoying it is when plans go awry as a result.

Anyway, we wandered around York instead, admiring the beautiful architecture and dipping into a couple of cafés as and when the need arose. The weather was dry, occasionally bright and very chilly and lent itself to this sort of activity perfectly. A good day.
