A Park in Smethwick

We went looking for sculptures today dedicated to the memory of two of the members of the glass manufacturing Chance family.  Sir James Chance gave the land for West Park, Smethwick to the town and the park was opened in 1895.  It is a lovely peaceful and well-used oasis in the Black Country.  The memorial to him is a particularly fine example of ornate work in Brick and Terracotta.  You can see an example in extras.

We enjoyed trying out the exercise machines which have recently been installed and the pool was peaceful.   Very chilly today though
