Fieldfare!

View large to see the markings on this beautiful bird.
I've managed at last to coax two fieldfares into the garden - with the help of windfalls from a neighbour's garden. Now they don't want to go and are very protective of their apples, chasing everything smaller than a magpie away.
Surprisingly difficult to get a sharp focus until the light improved (but unfortunately that took away the frost which put a seasonal context on the shot).
