A Sasanach's Skye photos

The late afternoon shift.

These guys work a long shift and often in some quite unpleasant weather. They have been replacing the outer piles at Portree pier. They are using a south American timber called Green Heart which is apparently the best timber for the job.
I understand the the timber has qute large xylem and phloem and it takes up the silt which then hardens within the timber.
