Bengal Tigress

Guess who has been back working on the sculpture project again?!

This is a statue of the Tigress returning after a hunt with a dead peacock to feed her young cubs.  Amazing detail in the bronze.

Its by French sculptior Augustus Cain.  It was gifted to the City of Glasgow by John Stewart Kennedy the expat son of a wealthy Glasgow Merchant who saw a similar one being worked on by Cain in his Paris studio.  That was back in 1866.

The other one was commissioned for New York so there is a twin of this one located in Central Park in New York.

I feel that to tell the full story I should visit the Central Park one to get an identiical set of images. I'll neerd to ask if they will pay my expenses over to do that!
