Wild out East 2

Somewhat different weather this morning - thick damp fog. We persevered anyway and first went to try to find some breakfast in Cobh. We had the largest bowls of porridge I've ever seen - it was like cement! I only managed a quarter of it and could hardly get up afterwards!

We're not really sure where we've been but have discovered that Cobh is very hilly and the roads around it very tiny and muddy and the fog remained thick. Six wells visited, four just about hanging on. C showed us the well under their driveway and D leapt out of his jeep and took us up the muddiest track to see the remains of his well. The most challenging of all, Himself wisely stayed in the car, was across two fields and slightly down in a ravine - the mist was rising out of it. The going was treacherous - thick clay underfoot, brambles, ferns, fallen branches but the well was still there.
This photo though shows the strand where we looked for St Sillee's Well (are they having a laugh?) in Ballybrassil! We had to skid down the banks to get to it - ropes had been thoughtfully placed!  Visibility was just about zilch.
We have arrived home filthy and exhausted but satisfied. Time for a shower.
