Every Picture Tells .....

Way out West

SATURDAY

I tried out the Halifax Parkrun this morning - an undulating course around Shroggs Park with paths, trails, hills and a sharp turn. Finished in 25m 34s.

Did a further 10km run along the Calder and Hebble towpath on my way home from the Parkrun - running from Sowerby Bridge Basin to Halifax Basin and back.

An afternoon session round the house with the Dyson resulted in hitting the 20,000 steps.

We went to the Rex Cinema in Elland this evening to see "Stan and Ollie". The place is a fitting venue - it's like stepping back in time to the 1950s.  There's  even an intermission with ice-cream mid-way through the film.

The cinema proprietors were dressed as Stan and Ollie and they did a few sketches before the film started. As well as the main feature film, the programme included a screening of "Towed in a Hole" (1932).

I enjoyed the film which is set in the UK during the duo's twilight years. The pair's mannerisms were spot-on with Steve Coogan giving an exceptional performance as Stan Laurel.
